Rolls of Thunder Here My Cry!!!

So, I have a confession... this is going to sound vain but bear with me here. I am very confident. This is not my opinion it is just the truth. You can only imagine how much confidence it takes to wear my hair like I do everyday in my profession... But there is one place where I lack confidence and that is my thighs. I havent worn under a size 12 in about 5 years and I have a gap in my teeth which I wear with pride but when it comes to my thighs I melt at the idea of them hanging out.
So, I was at this fabulous thrift store in Danville, VA a few weeks ago when I was visiting my in-laws and I spotted these shots... I would normally chuckle and walk right past them but on this warm and sunny day all I could think about was how fabulous it would be to have on a pair of shorts... so I picked them up. With the dollar price tag calling my thrifty minded name I purchased them secretly thinking that I will NEVER put them on.
Well, here I am... Standing before you facing my fear... letting my Rolls of Thunder ring out for all to see.
This summer I have made a promise that I am going to try to embrace my think thighs or change them... yeah, there's a novel idea. If you don't like something on your body you can easily change it with a few weeks of work and some dedication.
Look out world... Here me and my thighs

Passing Time

Dress/Skirt: Thrifted
Black Cardigan: Thrifted
Black Paton Leather Skinny Belt: Thrifted
Sandals: F21

So, I have totally missed you guys. Life is bananas and blogging is my mental escape. Take for instance I am currently in class. Yes, I am in SCHOOL. I decided to go back to school and get my MBA... It sounded like a good idea in 2010 but these 4 hour classes will KILL YOU. I am trying not to pull my hair out. (Pray for me)
Earlier today Keesha came over and so of course we snapped a few shots and caught up on some gossip... you know girl time. I also got to see little miss Corrin (note, she had a walk in roll in one of my shots)... every time I see here she has a new phase in her ever growing vocabulary. The cutest little thing ever!!!
How do you past time? I need some suggestions!!!!

Thrifted Color Blocking

Outfit:Thrifted :)

So im sure everybody that checks out our blog knows who Eboni is. Well yesterday she led me to a blog I had never seen called Pretty Shiny Sparkly . Kristina is challenging fashion/lifestyle bloggers to try their hand at the color blocking trend that is all the rage right now.
Im loving the idea of wearing such bold colors together. It reminds me of being 11 and wanting to be Punky Brewster or Blossom :) Needless to say Im all for it. Well, I didnt have time to post yesterday so Im a day late but I say, What the heck. At least I get credit for turning in the assignment right?

Mini-Bargain/Fashionista

Dress and Earrings: Thrifted
Denim Shirt: Baby Gap
Bracelet: Present
Shoes: Mommy's

Hi kdr*S readers. My name is Corrin. Im 2 years old and I always want to help my mommy create posts. I enjoy getting dressed up, wearing jewelry and getting my nails polished among other things. I help my mommy decide which shoes or accessories to wear when we get dressed in the morning. Sometimes she forgets to accessorize me. Luckily, I know where she keeps all of my favorite sparkly things so I just take care of it myself .
Im also an avid thrifter. Ive been thrifting and clearance bargain hunting since I was born so Im a pro. I even get free things by making friends with the people who work there :)
Thanks for reading my post. I hope mommy will let me do this more often. In the meantime, I will be in the yard digging for worms in my clean clothes.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Falafel Plate!
Fried Mushroom Wrap

Miss Corrin LOVES Falafel :)

Today was a good day. Young Micah left to spend the rest of the week with Grandpat and Sweetie so its just hubby, Corrin and I. What did we do today with the freedom of having only ONE child to lug around? We ate out, naturally :)
Those of you who have children know how much of a feat it is to get through meals in public. Its safe to say its a whole lot easier managing 1 child with four hands than 2 children with 4 hands.
Anywho, I digress. The hubby took me to my favorite restaurant in town, Papa Gyros! Im a greek food-aholic so I try to stay away for fear of back to back return visits. I live for hummus and baklava! I was so happy I almost broke a plate ( would have if it wasnt styrofoam)

Polka Dots Are My Friends (Big Boobs Are the Devil)

Dress &Belt:Thrifted
Shoes: Target(perhaps '08?)

I suffer from big boob/ no butt syndrome. The symptoms:
Having to purchase a Large instead of a small or medium dress
Must keep safety pins on hand in case of boobie blowouts
I look like I may tip forward due to lack of an anchor(hindparts)
Lowcut tops tend to look slutty
spaghetti straps are dangerous
Horizontal stripes may render some passers by dizzy
Since the age of 11 I've dealt with these hinderances (thing 1 and thing 2). There must be a big boob survival guide out there somewhere to help us out with these Dolly Partons! Anyone have any tips for the top weary gal?

Easy Like Sunday Morning

Grilled Alaskan with Smoked Gouda Cheese Grits

Tree in front of my house finally bloomed... Im calling it a dogwood

So, Ladies I'M BACK!!! Finally, Im starting to get my mojo back... oh, how I have missed you all.
Being the Southern Lady that I am nothing says Sunday Morning like Fish and Grits. Though I am a vegetarian, I have my own moral law... Salmon is totally allowed. You cant take my grilled Salmon away and sushi away from me. I may not eat it but once a year but when I do its well worth it!
I am currently en route to visit my in-laws in Virgina (pray for me)... The hubby and I will be there all week and so I am looking forward to some good thrift shopping in the area. Luckily we will be just a few miles out side of Greensboro, NC and there are a few places there I hope to hit up? On our way back I made my husband promise we can stop at IKEA in Charlotte, and H&M and Zara in Atlanta before we get home... I hope he doesn't lie to me... I have been known to pout about not getting my way when it comes to shopping. #dontjudgeme

Micah's Choice

Dinner Fixins!
Vegetarian chicken curry w/ brown rice
Green beans
Oven roasted cabbage
big fat crossiant
Juicer mise en place
So excited to use the juicer!

Delicious!
Micah is the most brilliant 6 year old I know. Not just because hes mine but because he came up with the swell idea to use the juicer today. I havent used that juicer in who knows how long. It was just the thing we needed though. I let Micah select our fruit/veggies to "mixy mixy". His choice? Carrot, apple and cantaloupe. It was the best beverage ive had in ages!
Note to self: Utilize the darn juicer!

Let There be Gelato!!!

SO,Now, heres the deal... I heart this fantastic market called Earth Fare, they sale this Talenti Gelato for $6 a pint. A few weeks ago they had it on sale for $3.99 and I found a $1 off coupon on the glass so I racked up... well a few days later I find this lucky lady on sale at Target... Its not only clothing I enjoy finding on sale. With all this Gelato we had to have a cook out.
My husband said he was going to grill but his idea of grilling is lighting the grill... I dont think I have ever seen him turn a burger over on the grill before. Gotta Love HIM!!!

MENU
Morning Star Grillers
Grilled Potatoes with onions and jalapenos
Baked Beans
Doritos (husbands choice)
(the forgotten ingredient was the grilled cabbage, next time Keesha)
