Home Tour: Part 1

Hallway leading to bath and bedrooms

Ok Sing, Heres the home tour you requested...well part one anyway :) Welcome to our (DJ and I) home! This is the first thing you see when you enter, our living room. My home decor, much like my wardrobe is probably 75-80% thrifted. My husband and I are pretty hardcore midcentury modern enthusiasts so our home is pretty reflective of our love for all things, well midcentury!

Hope you enjoyed the pics. Which room should I post next....

Hairy Situation

Dress,Sweater and Clutch: Thrifted

Bracelets:Walmart

Belt: Gap

Shoes: Rue 21

I realized something about myself today: Im actually growing up! I know that may sound funny as you read it, heck I am laughing at myself as I type this. Im 30 years old so I guess its about time :) What brought me to this realization you might ask? It seems the little things dont seem to bother me as much as they used to. Gone are the days where I wouldnt wear a dress/skirt if my legs werent freshly shaven.

This morning I woke up in the mood to wear the above dress. I reached down and felt my legs. They werent Harry and the Hendersons status but they could definetely use a little attention. What did I do? Well grown up Keesha decided to forego the shaving in order to use the little bit of extra time to eat a nice warm slice of banana bread with my son for breakfast. It was nice and I enjoyed the mommy and son time that I was afforded. Now I will take care of these legs tonight but this morning was a win/win for me. I felt nice in my dress and my son got a chance to relax with mommy without the normal crazy and fast paced morning routine. I guess sometimes I shave my legs sometimes I dont :)

What's something that you used to obsess over that youve grown out of?

Banana Raisin Bread Pudding

Recipe Adapted from AllRecipes.com

*Everybody knows that if you have leftover bread you make Bread Pudding* imitating Phaedra from RHOA....So thats exactly what I did!
It was super tasty...I added 1 mashed banana and extra cinnamon. Perhaps thats why it took an additional 20 minutes to completely cook! Anywho, once it cooled to a palatable temperature I topped it with vanilla ice cream and dug in...YUMMY!!!

Nothing Much ...

Maxi Dress: Dillards
Sweater: Forever 21
Moccasins: Thrifted
Bag: My Daddy :)
Shades: Thrifted/Hubbie

Today was pretty low key. I spent most of my day trying to stay awake...Darn you time change! I just cant seem to get my mind to understand that I have to go to bed at a decent hour in order to not be a zombie the next day.
Anywho, I didnt really put much thought into this outfit. It was a 60 degree day and I wanted to be comfortable without looking like I just rolled out of bed. So this is what I ended up wearing. What do you think about the combo?
My main mission today was to bake and deliver this loaf of banana bread to my dear Amanda :) I Love Ya! Hope you enjoy it :)

You Dirty Dirty Wife!

So, I am so excited to be back in posting action. I have been MIA and I have just run out of excuses, so all I can say is sorry.

Well, last night I totally got my Mo-Jo back. Last night was the first Dirty Wives Club meeting. The founder, my best friend Beth gathered a fabulous group of wives for dinner and girl talk.

There was food, drinks and tons of normally inappropriate conversation. Part of the classified rules is no conversation topic is off limits so of course we took that rule and ran with it!

We ate dinner at Surin of Thailand. It was delicious BUT there was one big problem... the fake flowers that were planted outside of the restaurant. Beth's husband is half Asian so she was able to clear up and explain the normalcy of planting fake, Dollar General flowers with the tags still on them. The best part of the "flower garden" is that the flower bed is mulched... that took time and talent.

Isnt this drink beautiful? Though we (Keesha and I) dont drink I couldnt drink even if I wanted to. (TBA)

After the show is the after party!!!

Since Target was closed we shook our groove thangs in Wal-Mart.

Curried Lentil Soup

Curried Lentil Soup Recipe via Epicurious

Its dreary outside. We're preparing for a pretty rough storm this evening so I thought a nice soup would hit the spot. Whats better than Curry? Nothing in my families opinion. The recipe is quick and practically effortless. This soup is big on flavor and only takes 45 minutes from start to finish.

The only changes I made to the recipe was to add about 1/4 cup Coconut Milk, a generous pinch of black pepper and substituted vegetable broth for the chicken broth they suggested. I think by adding the coconut milk, it changed the beans from soupy to a very moist "pot of beans" which turned out just fine.

Serve over rice with a little cornbread on the side....perfection ;)
What are you serving up for dinner?

Denim and DVF

Skirt: Vintage Diane Von Furstenberg (thrifted)
Shirt:Kmart
Necklace:Thrifted
Shoes and Belt:Target
This year for my birthday my husband surprised me with a week off from work and a roadtrip minus the kiddos! (Special thanks to my inlaws for taking care of our little responsiblities) On this trip we drove to Atlanta and then on to Cincinnati. I dont think we've been alone for that much time in our 7 years of marriage. Needless to say, it was a much needed break.
The plan was to just fly by the seat of our pants and find little thrift shops along the way. We had a blast. It was a week long thrifting shopping spree!
Yes, I must admit I have an AWESOME husband.
P.S. Also along the way, I seem to have misplaced my hair! If you would like to follow my hair growth journey click here. Id love it if youd follow!

Date Night!

So this post and date night were looooonnnnngggg over due! Deon and I used to see each other at least 2-3 time a week. Suddenly our lives got major busy and our friendship was reduced to the occasional text message. Sad, I know. But Deon saved the day last night by skipping out of class early and we found ourselves at our favorite cheap place....The Dollar Movies. (click here to see something random)

We NEVER seem to catch movies when they first come out and since we are so cheap, spending a buck to catch a movie that we will probably only see half of due to our incessant chatting is right up our alley.

So after stuffing our faces with greasy butter laden and peanut M&M laced popcorn, there was nothing left to do except take IGNORANT pictures in the parking lot :)

Do you have a friend that you arent ashamed to make a fool of yourself with?
